Ross Hood

Born in Canada, Ross Hood spent much of his very early years in Canada, Australia and New Zealand before returning to his father's hometown of Dundee, where he attended both primary and secondary schools and then went on to study at the University of Dundee.

Ross worked with a number of the major legal firms and was principal of his own firm before joining Alex Morison & Co in 1997. He is experienced in a broad range of commercial deals and transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs and start-ups, joint ventures, commercial contracts, intellectual property and Internet law,  financings and associated areas of the law.

A keen fisherman, Ross has a love of trout and salmon fishing and the wild places where they can be found. He is also an occasional gardener and an inveterate reader, when time allows.

Ross helped me out when I bought a business in Dublin. He has also helped me out numerous times since then with Copyright conundrums, licensing agreements and partner selection.

Ross has a psychic grasp of reality that is quite unique.

Nothing happens without his prior approval.

His quiet style hides a ruthless operator. Thoroughly Recommended and a Bloody Good Bloke!

George Way

Notary Public Litigation Partner since 1982. An accredited commercial mediator, with particular expertise in commercial contract and corporate recovery, he has spearheaded the development of computerised case and document management systems within his Edinburgh firm Beveridge and Kellas.

A specialist niche practice in claims to peerage or other hereditary titles has lead to an international reputation as an expert on Scottish Clans.

He presently serves as a Member of Council of the Law Society; President of the Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts, and Procurator Fiscal to the Court of the Lord Lyon, Scotland's heraldic authority. He is the author of Everyday Scots Law and other works published by Harper Collins .

When I had a legal challenge a few years back I wanted the best lawyer in Edinburgh. To find out who that was I went to the courts and asked several lawyers at random whom I should choose. 7 out of 10 (who expressed a preferance!) said George's name.

And he hasn't ever let me down since. Thoroughly Recommended.

Patrick Rackow

Having previously worked as an investment manager for a leading investment bank, Patrick was called to the Bar in 1992. Since then he has worked both in-house and in private practice advising a wide range of music and media departments at Edmonds Bowen, Solicitors. He has recently become a consultant with Steele & Co, a role he will combine with his MBA activities. Patrick is a director of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters and contributes regularly to the music industry seminars and publications.

At a recent Copyright seminar I met Patrick in the bar at the end of the first day. We chatted for a while and then left to mingle with other people. About an hour later I heard him defending us against someone who didn't really know what we do. He had grasped our concept of Copyright and was defending it better than we could. I since met him in London and he is a thoroughly good bloke; brilliant man to have if you have any music industry related legal battles looming. Consider yourself Recommended Patrick .
