Your Health is Important - This is me with my daughter Siobhan

Everyone has a comment about health...especially if they are ill.

I take the Chinese philosophy when it comes to health..."Look after your body when you are well and it will look after you if you ever get ill"

I like the idea that you pay to go to a doctor when you are well and it's free if you get ill. This does imply that you have to look out as regards to what you eat as well as what you take (medicinally) when you are ill.

I have to stress that I'm not the food Taliban when it comes to eating but there are somethings that should never get past your lips such as refined sugar, Coke or Pepsi (have you seen what's in them!!...Phosphoric acid is a weed killer for god's sake!) white bread, cakes from Mathiesons (terrible service..purely my opinion of course), more than two cups of coffee a day ( too many unidentified chemicals) battery farmed poultry and anything fast food or microwaved. Apart from that you can eat almost anything!

I've never been a fan of antibiotics or pills of any description. If I have a sore head it's probably for a reason; I don't want to mask it with a pill. Likewise if I have a sore back I got to a Chiropractor to find the source of the ache.

In fact, one potential "cause" of allergies could be "Toxic Load" That's where your body gets hit with so many chemicals from food, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorants and so on that it simply overloads the immune system.

Liquid soap can irritate people with psoriasis. Formaldehyde in Bubble Bath is mostly used to preserve medical specimins! Why bathe in that?

However, don't fear, there are plenty natural products out there.

Take a look at http://www.hedgerowherbals.com for good examples

Allergy

In 2002 I had an "allergy" of some description. I say "allergy" but the symptoms were quite simple....Lots of sneezing in the morning only and for about an hour. I ruled out food allergies. Wine allergies (I thought the sulphur in wine may have had an effect) and the usual dust stuff as I bought a special mattress so I was really at a loss as to what it might be. In the end I went to a traditional Chinese herbalist in Ocean Terminal Leith, Edinburgh.

The chinese doctor, a woman who couldn't speak English, looked at my tongue and felt my pulse. She smiled and nodded and through a translator she recommended some acupuncture. some face and head massage and some herbs. Within a few weeks all symptoms were gone and they've not been back. So my recommendation to you is this. Nature works and nature works best. There is nearly always an "alternative" to popping pills. So if there is, give it a try first.

Balance the whole thing by eating properly, walk as much as you can, drink red wine moderately, have regular sex...usually after the red wine...avoid excessive processed rubbish, walk in the sun as much as you can, laugh a lot, avoid the news in the morning or you'll end up hating someone you've never met, and above all don't smoke.

Good Bacteria

The absolute back-bone of any healthy regime. Get the gut in good order and the rest of you should be ok.

If you don't know what I'm on about...then there is a simple test to see if you have the correct bacteria balance in your body. For more information Click Here

For the past year I've been taking Acidophilus tablets and they make a HUGE difference. Thoroughly recommended.

Glasses/Specticles/Eyewear

If you've read this far and you wear (or need to wear) glasses at all, you are about to save upwards of £100 on your next pair.

As you will be aware, glasses are not cheap. You buy the frames and then the lenses. In the photo at the top of this page I'm wearing a pair of Silhouette glasses that cost over £300. However, I have discovered a place where Opticians go to get YOUR glasses AND they pay roughly £40 for the frames AND the lenses!

Now you can get them for that price as well!
